Most women experience pregnancy and birth as the most beautiful time of their lives and one of the most challenging.

Pregnancy is not just about a new life growing inside you, it is about discovering yourself anew. It's a time of searching and finding. Often, it's exactly this moment when you begin to listen to your body in a completely new, deeper way. Amid all the questions, thoughts about your pelvic floor usually begin to surface. It is the hidden foundation of your strength, providing stability during pregnancy and, as the most important muscle during birth, needing to do one thing above all else: let go.

The postnatal period, the early weeks and recovery, bring their own unique challenges. We often hear that we need to get "strong" again and everything should become "firm" again. What gets overlooked: more and more women experience a hypertonic pelvic floor after birth, meaning the muscles are permanently too tight and have forgotten how to release. These women often mistake a hypertonic pelvic floor for a weak one, do strengthening exercises, and wonder why their symptoms aren't improving, but actually getting worse.

I know this experience from my own story, and I understand that a muscle that cannot relax paradoxically also loses its strength. It is my heartfelt mission to help you avoid this painful experience and find the balance between powerful support and gentle release.

I am here to listen and walk alongside you on your journey: with expertise, empathy, and a little humour, because laughter is relaxing.

A personal note

I live with a hypertonic pelvic floor myself. It is one of the main reasons Basin Body exists — and why releasing gets as much room in my work as strengthening does.
